Addressing Coronavirus and How to Prepare Your Lash Business

Posted inBuild, Grow

The Corona Virus seems to have everyone in an absolute state of PANIC. But perpetuating the fear and adding to the madness is not going to help ANYBODY or ANYTHING – including your business. So stay clam and read on…

Why is The Corona Virus going to affect the lash industry?

Our suppliers come from China – so here are some preventative measures you can take:

Look for domestic manufacturers or suppliers who manufacture their products in your country so as not to worry about shipments being delayed or cancelled coming from China.

STOCK UP NOW – Plan to have 3-4 months of back stock on your necessity items NOW. This includes adhesive. Most adhesives can be stored UNOPENED in the fridge or freezer to extend their shelf life. Contact your supplier to get their recommendations on how to store adhesives for a couple of months.

In addition… This would not be a good time to start or launch or experiment with creating a product line. Until things clear up I would highly reccomend delaying any launch to a new product line.

And lastly… TALK TO YOUR SUPPLIER. Ask what they’re plan is to tackle a shortage if they have one and how they’ll communicate when stock is back in.

Try not to stress about what you cannot control.

If your local government quarantines you, a client, or the whole city – there’s nothing you can do about it except be prepared.

FIRST let’s talk about yours and your client’s health and safety. NEVER require a client to put themselves in harms way just to avoid a cancellation fee. IF a client is sick, or someone in their house is sick, waive their cancellation fee. Over do it on sanitation and hygiene. Wear a mask.

Same with hurricanes, blizzards, etc. Natural disasters are not something you should be holding your clients accountable for.

Seek out any government aid for lost wages due to a quarantine. You are not the only one affected and there is likely to be some sort of support from your government. Not always, but there could be some assistance and extensions in case of quarantine.

Save money for these kinds of emergencies and possible recessions.

Having a rainy bay biz fund is ALWAYS a good business move.

We are already overdue for a recession and the markets are already seeing a decline due to the presence of this virus spreading.

This is not something to panic about. It is a part of life. You will experience many recessions in your lifetime.

I’ve done an episode on my take if the lash industry has an expiration date – and you can listen to that episode here www.thelashpreneur.com/30

Focus on your marketing and do what you can do now to prepare your business. Plan for the worst and expect the best. Keep growing. Keep reaching. And keep GOING!

Have a Good One!
