RESET: Part 1 of the Post Pandemic Recovery Series

Posted inBuild, Grow, Start

Welcome to part 1 of my Post Pandemic Recovery Series, where I will be providing beauty business owners with guidance on how to go about moving forward with their businesses after the shutdown.

Today, we will be talking about how to RESET and REFOCUS as businesses forced to shut down now start to navigate what the new normal will look like and what needs to change in order to operate successfully post-pandemic. We focus not only on the mental health aspect of business ownership during the pandemic, but on how to reevaluate your goals for the year.

Refocus

On healing and self care both for you and your clients.

I have been focusing a lot on sitting with the discomfort, the boredom, and the addiction to productivity that I struggle with. I often feel that my self worth is tied to the success or failure of my business.

When the pandemic happened, I was quite literally forced to slow down. And I had to make peace with that.

I had to see this pandemic as something that is happening FOR ME and not TO ME.

So, with that being said, what can you do to make sure YOU are okay? Your mental health must always come first.

Secondly, open your eyes to what a business is. Not the glorified Instagram version of what your business should be.

Things like financial management, marketing, prioritizing paying yourself. Protecting your business legally. Decide that you are DONE with the hustle that leads to nowhere. Then you start to focus on the aspects of your business that need attention.

Instead of avoiding things like finances, accounting, policies, health and safety, marketing, you now recognize the NECESSITY for those things in your business.

THOSE are what allows your business to survive through a bad week, a bad month, or even a bad couple of months.

Reflect

Why on why you got into business in the first place. Connect with your why. Your passion. Your vision. Your purpose.

Reflect on what things didn’t serve you in the past. Take stock of the stress, the struggle, the effort with no results, the things you wish you’d had time for but still aren’t motivated to get done.

FOCUS ON GOAL PLANNING: Coronavirus may have changed the plan, but it should not change the goal. How we will know when we’ve gotten to where we’re going if we don’t know when we get there?

Reset your mind

What is going to motivate you? What thoughts, feelings, actions do you need to let go of to begin to move beyond fear and overwhelm into a place of peace and progress?

Allow yourself to adjust. Resisting change and the new way we’ll have to operate will only serve to keep in you in a struggle state.

THE PANDEMIC MIGHT HAVE HIGHLIGHTED YOUR BUSINESSES WEAK SPOTS. This is where you can REFOCUS on your journey to recovery! Don’t be the person who has to learn these valuable lessons twice!

Join me next time as I talk about how to reach out to your clients about reopening including an eye opening chat about the do’s and don’ts of discounting, any additional fees you might consider for Personal protective equipment and how to set the expectations for returning clients to ensure everyone’s experience is a positive and healing one.

Have a Good One!
