Why Lower Prices are Turning Off Potential Clients

Posted inGrow

While giving away free things might work in other industries, you offering endless promotions and discounts trying to get new clients in the door is counterproductive. It will not get you the result that you want.

Can you guess what the #1 question I get from lash artists is?

HOW DO YOU BUILD A CLIENTELE?

Simple – you need clients who will pay you. Why does it seem like this is a big huge secret that NOBODY shares with each other? Like it’s some best kept secret between successful lash artists…

SPOILER ALERT: IT’S NOT THEIR PRICE POINT that makes them fully booked or successful or in demand! It’s their marketing!

What do you think the first question I ask to anybody who reaches out to me because they’re struggling in business. What are you doing to market yourself?

One of the most common social media marketing issues among lash artists is prioritizing popularity over value. Sure, that artist might have 20K followers on Instagram, but how much does that really matter if more than half of those will never convert to clients?

So now they have this large following and aren’t getting any potential clients engaging or DM-ing them… so they think “it must be my prices”.

WRONG – your issue is not the price point, it’s the audience you are trying to target.

If you feel like you have to discount your prices to be “competitive” I’m going to challenge you and say you actually should raise your prices to eliminate competition.

THERE ARE CLIENTS WHO WILL NOT PAY UNDER A CERTAIN PRICE BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE SOMETHING IS BEING SACRIFICED.

So instead of reevaluating your prices, reevaluate your marketing tactics and your target audience.

To do this – First and foremost – you’re going to go back and listen to episode 2 “How you’re killing your chances with the algorithm” and 71 “The Instagram Cleanse” and get some clarity on how to utilize social media for marketing your business effectively.

Next up – you’re going to unfollow all of your competitors to take away the temptation to make poor decisions. DO NOT FOLLOW THEIR LEAD. If you’re going to go out of business – I don’t want you blaming anyone else for your results. You are going to own that you are in charge of your fate – not blame your competitors for undercutting your price.
